New York Real Estate Salesperson Exam Preparation & Registration
About the Exam
The New York State Real Estate Salesperson exam is open to candidates who have completed a required 75-hour course in real estate. The paper-based exam contains all multiple-choice questions and is based on the material addressed in the required course. You will have 90 minutes to complete this exam. A total of 70% of the questions must be answered correctly to achieve a passing score.
This course does not provide the educational requirement. This course is for students interested in exploring the field, or for review purposes. The course summarizes and provides an overview of the material you could expect to be tested on when taking this real estate licensing exam. You will review such topics as real estate agency roles and practices, Multiple Listing Service (MLS), property rights and forms of ownership, real estate agent duties and types of agencies. Lessons also address closing documentation, mortgage types and requirements, property valuation and market analysis, agreements and contracts, real estate encumbrances and real estate investment. You will also find a lesson discussing New York state real estate licensing requirements, contracts and leases, and regulations concerning property ownership, leasing, property management and financing. Self-assess what you know and what you have learned with quizzes at the end of each lesson.
After satisfying the educational requirement for real estate salesperson candidates, you can apply to take the New York State licensing exam. Upon approval, you must schedule a test time and location by creating an account on eAccessNY. An approved form of identification must be presented on the day of your exam.
