Description
In this single semester course, students explore and write about their interests, talents, achievements, and goals. A focus on 13 career clusters and the three career pathways, guides students to match their talents, interests, and goals to various career options.
Students are familiarized with a number of employment resources both in print and on the internet. This course provides practice in valuable life and career skills, including resume-writing, interview techniques, budgeting, time-management, and long-term planning.
In Career Explorations, students complete a research paper and oral presentation on a specific occupation of personal interest. The report will include: a personal statement of interest and career goals, identification of a specific occupation which matches stated interests and goals, a description of the occupation and type of education required, and a budget analysis based on the selected occupation.
This course is generally offered in 10th grade, so students can align their 11th and 12th grade electives to match their intended career plans.
